No matter what each of our paths in life might be, when we hear the word "FIRE", I'm sure most of us react the same way.  Fear.  The fear that something as devastating as a fire could someday affect our own life or the life of someone we love.  You see reports on the news all too often ~ the family standing outside watching their home burn to the ground.  Although I'm sure thankful to have escaped with their lives, every single thing that means something to them is lost.

I can't even begin to imagine that feeling.

What I am about to ask may be hard for you to vision, but please try....

Imagine this is YOUR family.  And YOUR home.  And imagine that all of you thankfully got out in time, but there is a good chance that in the chaos, fear and confusion, the family pet is still inside.  As you stand there watching your home burn, the pain and devastation is that much greater because a being that you love - a member of your family - is stuck.

The firemen - true heroes - risk their lives every day to rescue not only us humans, but our very special furry family members.  I've personally known firemen that, upon learning the family pet is stuck inside, will run right back into a home engulfed in flames to search out and rescue that special family member.

When they find your special family member and bring them out, do they have the means to help them?

THEY DO NOW!

Companion animals of Downriver will get a second chance of survival at a fire with the use of the new equipment.  Thanks to the donations of many people, all Downriver communities are equipped with Animal Oxygen Recovery Masks!

These are the same masks that H.E.L.P. Animals, Inc. donated to USAF / NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Their EMS, Fire & Rescue Emergency Response Service and K9 Unit were presented on June 22, 2005.

DONATIONS ARE STILL BEING ACCEPTED TO HOPEFULLY EXTEND OUR DONATIONS THROUGHOUT MICHIGAN!

IF YOU ARE PART OF A FIRE/RESCUE TEAM AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THESE ANIMAL RECOVERY SETS ON YOUR TRUCKS, PLEASE CALL US!
