HELP FIND ME A HOME!

Frequently, Obedience Dynamics is asked to help find forever homes.  If we can help, we want to help!  As an incentive, any dog that is adopted from the Obedience Dynamics website will receive extreme discounts in training.  If you can give one of these dogs a loving, forever home, please get in touch with us at:  734.818.3177.

Meet Cash!

Cash is a passive, calm, playful "almost" 6 month old German Shepherd mix that is in desperate need of a forever home!  His owner is moving and can't take Cash with him.  Cash's birthday is September 25.

He is up to date on his puppy vaccines, but he isn't neutered yet.  The owner plans to take care of that.  Cash is potty trained and crate trained but likes to spend his nights sleeping under the bed!  If he has proper chew toys, he won't bother anything that he's not suppose to.  ;)

Cash will come with his own food storage container, grooming supplies including nail clippers, brush, toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner!  He also already has his own leash and toys.

Cash has been around dogs since he was 6 weeks old and does well with them.  He's a little bit shy towards humans but warms up to them after a bit.atra@nthconsultants.com

Meet Bruno!

Bruno is a 5 month old male Shepherd mix puppy that is in desperate need of a forever family!  His owner had to surrender him and he's living at Grosse Ile Animal Shelter.

Bruno is a bit on the shy side and needs help learning how to be a dog.  He has a sweet temperament but hasn't had much fun in his first 5 months.

For information concerning Bruno, please call Lora Schaller or anyone at the Grosse Ile Animal Shelter @ 734.692.9688 or email at:  acoschaller@hotmail.com

HELP!

On July Wednesday, July 9 2008 I received the following email:

These dogs are all currently at the Allen Park Animal Shelter. My friend Kalin works there and is also part of the rescue organization, Shelter to Home, Inc. Both she and some of the other staff members work very hard for the animals and take good care to get their shelter pets healthy and adopted. You can, however, and are encouraged to adopt directly from the shelter if you are interested in any of these animals.

She can also assist with rescues who are able and interested in pulling any of the dogs to foster.

One is a senior, 10 year old Golden Retriever who was just dumped there yesterday after 10 years of family life; he is very depressed and confused. At 10, he is in his golden years, so if you can give him the home he deserves for the last part of his life,

It is located right of the Southfield Fwy on Southfield Rd. behind the Allen Park City Hall. Others pictured include a Neo. Mastiff, and a Shep. Mix puppy.

Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!    You can call the shelter directly at 313-382-6173.

UPDATE!

Bailey has been rescued into a foster home but is still in desperate need of a forever home.  The following print was written by the woman that took Bailey out of the Allen Park Animal Shelter.

About the Golden (Bailey): I just rescued/picked him up from the shelter yesterday; he was miserable there. I am forwarding some updated, much happier pics of him. He is very sweet and a true gentle giant. He was so happy to be rescued from the shelter. The staff was very good to him, but that is no place for a senior who had a family for 12+ years. He is estimated to be 12-13 years old. He seems very obedient and has been well taken care of. He is with a foster temporarily and is being taken to the Vet today at 1pm for a full exam and to take care of an eye infection that he contracted while in the shelter. Other than that, his health and temperament seem top notch. He rode very well in the car and liked to snuggle and walks well on a leash. He is a big boy and seems to know 'potty' on command. He was supposed to not be fond of other dogs, but I feel that he may have just been cranky in the shelter. I did not test him with ours (beagles and Chihuahuas) but he seemed unphased by the other dogs at the shelter when we were leaving. They were all barking and he just froze up and wouldn't make eye contact with them. He did not show any signs of aggression toward the dogs or any people or children for the few hours I had him yesterday but one A/C Officer claimed he showed signs of 'dog aggression'; I believe he has always been an only dog and may have just been upset. This would however need to be tested if he goes into a home with other pets. By all accounts, I feel he is just a very calm, old man who loves people and didn't seem to have any bark or bite left in him, if ever at all. He was very affectionate with both me and my husband and didn't bark once at anyone or anything. His coat is gorgeous as well and he didn't seem to shed much. He is old and it shows because he is very laid back and slightly slow moving at times, but he is strong and walks very steadily on a leash and otherwise.

If you would be interested/willing/able to foster or adopt him or perhaps just meet him first, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. The temp. foster he is with now is going to be a very temporary arrangement, and he would need a new home very soon. He is being fostered locally. Please call or email me, 734-678-2262.  The Vet updates and all paperwork will also be avail. after today. Thank you!

PLEASE HELP BAILEY!

UPDATE!

Email received from Janelle Kowal - the person responsible for organizing Bailey's rescue.

Thanks so much to everyone who contacted me re: Bailey and for following his story. With all the networking and crossposting, I got some amazing responses from people with amazing offers to step up and help this old man live out the rest of his life happily. It makes me very happy and proud to know such good people who will rise to the occasion to help a friend and a dog in need. As of noon today, I have spoken with the woman who agreed to foster him after I rescued him from the shelter, and I am happy to report that things have greatly improved for him there. This was an adjustment being their first dog and they have become attached to him and are willing to work with him and make better arrangements to keep him, their birds and everyone happy. It would be hard not to get attached to Bailey; he is a super sweet old man.

She was confident today that she did not want to me to further pursue finding a new home for him but I assured her that if anything should change, I would be there to help. I advised her that I had several people (such as yourselves) who were willing to step in and take him if things didn't work out, so she and I will stay in touch but she was adament today that they definitely wanted to keep him and that he is staying in the home with them. Again, thanks so much for stepping up.

She also said that he came in contact with a neighboir's dog and again, no barking, no growling, just a little curious, so I really doubt any dog aggression issues. He knows no strangers and is extremely affectionate with people and he may have been an only dog previously, but I doubt that he has any serious aggression issues toward them; I think it was the circumstances. He was literally left behind at the shelter by his family after a lifetime with them and had ear and eye infections, so I am sure he was a little confused, depressed and cranky.

Well, thanks again everyone. I really appreciate all of your offers and/or your support. I will keep everyone posted if something should change with Bailey.
